Putting It All Together

Ok, I've got my SharePoint Site, what do I do next?

You knew you needed a central place for your team to keep their documents, to be able to collaborate with their colleagues around the globe.  You knew you wanted to be able to communicate what the team was doing and what projects were being worked on. You probably have other things unique to your business that you need to communicate to your peers and want to eliminate that email traffic.

Let's get started.

The main parts of this SharePoint puzzle:  A few questions to ask yourself

Planning Your Site
Branding Your Site
Customizing Your Site
Training Your Team
  • What is going to be the purpose of your site?
  • What kind of communication do you want to accomplish with this site?
  • Who is going to be in your 3 main permission groups?

  • Who are you going to delegate to maintain aspects of your site?

  • What do I need to start organizing my site?

  • Do I want to have the standard Western Union Brand?
  • Does our team have a unique logo to incorporate into our site?
  • Do I want to work with the designer to have something unique but still stay within the brand?

  • Do I want the stoplight color coding on my project lists?
  • Do I want special images that lead my viewer to other pages?
  • Do I  have Excel files that could be imported into SharePoint and edited there instead of emailed or stored and edited in a library?
  • Do I have some great ideas I want to discuss with the designer?

  • Does my team already have experience with SharePoint?
  • Will I need to have a WebEx Training session scheduled for an overview on how to use SharePoint? for me? for my team?
